Prémio Nobel da Paz para o Presidente Santos da Colômbia. White Helmets da Síria seguem campanha

Mensagem recebida de The Syria Campaign assinada por Bissan Fakih: Dear friends, The White Helmets didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize, but the last 48 hours have been an incredible rush of love and solidarity. Hundreds of thousands of us supported our heroic rescue workers for the win. We created art and animations, wrote poetry, signed petitions, messaged our friends, posted heartfelt messages quoting the White Helmets’ motto from the Quran: “To save one life is to save all of humanity”. Abdulrahman from the White Helmets wrote “I swear to God I never in my life thought I’d see love like this. Everyone is getting in touch with us to see if there’s anything we need, any help”. The White Helmets would have received $1 million in prize money if they won the Nobel. Let’s continue our wave of love and support and raise the prize money to give it to them ourselves. Wouldn’t that be something? The money will be used to replace rescue equipment like ambulances and diggers that they’ve lost in the bombings, and to treat wounded rescue workers. It’s a high number but I have no doubt we can do it. :) One million thank yous, from the people to the White Helmets. Contribute now. The White Helmets created a movement of unity around the peace prize from Syrians who had to flee their homes and are now abroad, to people in countries across the world, to Syrians inside Syria. They gave us a chance to celebrate hope, to celebrate the incredible work they do saving lives and shining a light in some of humanity’s darkest hours. We’re often united in our anger over a hospital bombing or our devastation about a town being cleansed. I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to be united by a prize, a prize for peace. Thank you to the White Helmets for the 62,000 lives you’ve saved, for giving us hope, for believing in good, for believing in each other, for all of your countless sacrifices. For making us excited.
